Four Are Injured, One Critically, In One-Car Crash

      PIERCE - One man was injured critically and three other persons received lesser injuries when their car left the highway near here early Saturday morning.
      David E. Allgood, 21, Weippe, was flown to Deaconness Hospital at Spokane with critical head injuries.
      Allgood was injured when he threw himself in front of his wife, Linda, 18. She, the driver, Harold H. Smith, 29, Weippe, and his wife Helen, 27, were taken to Clearwater Valley Hospital, Orofino, and were in satisfactory condition Sunday. Each received cuts, bruises, contusions and shock.
      According to the sheriff's officers, the accident occurred at 2:05 a.m. when a 1962 Rambler station wagon driven by Smith failed to negotiate a turn 1.3 miles south of Pierce on State Highway 11. The car went 62 feet down an embankment, landing in a dry creek bed. The car was damaged beyond practical repair.
      Investigating the accident are Sheriff Leroy Altmiller and Deputy Sheriff Don Huntley. The injured were taken to the Orofino hospital by Clearwater ambulance and the sheriff.

Funeral Services Held For Accident Victim

      OROFINO - The funeral for David E. Allgood, 21, who died Monday from injuries received in a car wreck near Weippe, was at 10 a.m. Friday at Gilbert's Funeral Chapel. Elder R. W. Heinrich of the Weippe Seventh Day Adventist Church officiated. Hymns were sung by Eiden Hutchins and Phillip Hutchins, accompanied by Mrs. William Shields on the organ.

      Pallbearers were Gene Applington, Ronald Bonner, Boyd Diebel, Clarence Hueth, Marvin Watts and Terry Ball.

      Burial was at Riverside Cemetery.
